If you lost any players to injuries, or are not happy with your team three weeks into the NFL season, here’s a chance to improve your squad. Consider these Week 4 waiver wire pickups and sleepers for your fantasy football team including quarterback Andy Dalton, running back Braelon Allen, tight end Cole Kmet, and wide receivers Jauan Jennings and Allen Lazard.

Best NFL Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups Position Team
Andy Dalton QB Carolina Panthers
Jauan Jennings WR San Francisco 49ers
Allen Lazard WR New York Jets
Braelon Allen RB New York Jets
Cole Kmet TE Chicago Bears

If you’ve been following us since the start of the season, then you’re aware that we suggested Sam Darnold (Minnesota Vikings) as a top fantasy sleeper in Week 2. Darnold now leads the NFL with eight touchdown passes.

Best Week 4 QB Waiver Wire Pickup

The bad beats for the Miami Dolphins continue. Tua Tagovailoa is on the IR after suffering a concussion in Week 2. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson started Week 3, but he sustained a rib injury in the second half, and Tim Boyle came off the bench to finish the game. Boyle actually looked sharper than Thompson in the road loss against the Seattle Seahawks.

Miami has not named a starter for Week 4. Boyle is their only healthy QB on the current roster, but Tyler Huntley is probably their best option until Tua returns. The Dolphins signed Huntley last week, but he’s still learning the playbook.

Andy Dalton

The Panthers benched second-year QB Bryce Young after an 0-2 start, and the former #1 pick looked awful. Veteran Andy Dalton played magnificently in Week 3’s upset win against the Las Vegas Raiders. He became the first QB this season to pass 300 yards and three TDs in the same game when he completed 70.3% of his passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

Dalton is an ideal waiver wire pickup in Week 4 when the Panthers host the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s worthy of a starting spot in your Superflex league but also has stash potential on your bench. He’s currently rostered on less than 4% on major fantasy sites including less than 1.5% on ESPN.

Best Week 4 WR Waiver Wire Pickup

The San Francisco 49ers are still dealing with injuries to multiple key offensive players. Meanwhile, two former teammates are making a splash in the Big Apple for the New York Jets.

Jauan Jennings

The San Francisco 49ers love finding value in the last round of the NFL Draft. Jauan Jennings was a seventh-round pick in 2020, but he spent his rookie season on the practice squad. In his second season in 2021, he established himself as WR #3 with five touchdowns in 16 games. In 2022, he started four games and caught a career-best 35 receptions for 416 yards. In 2023, he started twice and appeared in 13 games. He even scored a touchdown in Super Bowl 58.

With Deebo Samuel out for a couple of weeks, Jennings was elevated to WR#2 behind Bradon Aiyuk. Brock Purdy targeted Jennings 12 times, and he caught 11 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns. To put that monstrous performance in perspective, Jennings caught two touchdowns over his previous 21 games.

Allen Lazard

Even though Garrett Wilson is WR #1 on the Jets, Allen Lazard has been getting a lot of action because opposing defenses are focused on slowing down Wilson. A similar situation unfolded when Rodgers and Lazard were teammates with the Packers. Defenses were hellbent on shutting down their primary WR Davante Adams, so Rodgers took advantage of that situation and got the ball to Lazard.

Wilson leads the Jets in receptions (15), targets (26), and receiving yards (150), but he only scored one touchdown. Meanwhile, Lazard leads the Jets with three touchdown receptions while racking up 148 yards on just 11 catches and 16 targets. Lazard was expected to start the season as WR #3 behind Mike Williams, but he’s getting three times as many targets as Williams.

Teams utilize a running back by committee these days, and the Jets have a dangerous tandem which is their version of lightning and thunder.

Braelon Allen

A speedy Breece Hall is the lightning on the Jets, and the much bigger and thicker Braelon Allen is the thunder. The duo combined for 264 rushing yards, 165 receiving yards, and five touchdowns this season.

Allen, a rookie from Wisconsin, has been an ideal complement in the backfield with Hall. If you want to bolster your bench, consider stashing Allen. He averages 5.1 yards per carry and rushed 19 times for 96 yards with one touchdown. Hall is widely considered one of the top dual-threat backs in the NFL, but Allen demonstrated he can also be an asset in the passing game. Allen added six catches for 45 yards and one touchdown reception.

Best Week 4 TE Waiver Wire Pickup

It’s often a feast or a famine with tight ends, which is why fantasy owners stream them week-to-week depending on matchups.

Cole Kmet

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has been inconsistent this season, mostly due to a porous offensive line. The passing game needs improvement, but Williams made Cole Kmet look like an All-Pro in Week 3. With Kenan Allen nursing a heel injury, Williams targeted Kmet 11 times and he hauled in 10 receptions for 97 yards and one touchdown. Kmet caught twice as many passes in Week 3 than his previous two games combined (5) and had three times as many yards (31). His 97 yards was the second-highest, single-game total of his career.
